Central Kalahari

The world’s largest sand basin is one of Africa’s most remote and untamed luxury safari destinations as well as home to the last remaining true San Bushmen. One of Africa’s least visited locales, the Central Kalahari explodes with life following the summer rains around January: new grasses stimulate a migration of thousands of zebra and antelope, followed by predators including the famous Kalahari black-maned lions.

What Will I See?

  • Thousands of wildebeest, antelope and zebra, followed by lion and cheetah after the summer rains
  • Lion, leopard and cheetah species in the Kalahari are substantially larger than those in the north
  • The famous Kalahari black-maned lions
  • Deception Valley
  • Luxury Kalahari safari camps
  • Illuminated canopies of stars
  • Good birdlife
  • Spectacular Kalahari sunsets

What Can I Do?

  • Nature walks with San Bushmen
  • Safari game drives in open vehicles, day and night
  • Quad biking
  • Bird watching

When Should I Go?
