      Welcome to South Africa! Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met by a Travel Beyond representative off the plane and assisted with airport formalities and to your driver for your private transfer to the InterContinental Airport Hotel.

      Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by a guide and transferred to Jack’s Camp OR San Camp.

      Accommodations will be reserved for three nights, including all meals, local drinks (excluding premium import brands), safari activities (game drives with a shared vehicle, meerkat encounters, bushman walks, and horseback riding), and laundry. This afternoon, meet your guide and other guests for a safari activity with a shared vehicle. Dinner will be served at camp.

      Option 2: San Camp

      Accommodations will be reserved for three nights, including all meals, local drinks (excluding premium import brands), safari activities (game drives with a shared vehicle, meerkat encounters, and bushman walks), and laundry. Horseback riding available at an additional cost.  This afternoon, meet your guide and other guests for a safari activity with a shared vehicle. Dinner will be served at camp.

  • While on safari, all activities and transfers are with the camp guides in vehicles that are shared with other guests in camp.
  • Private vehicles may be booked at an additional cost and are subject to availability.
  • If wireless internet access is important to your trip experience, please speak to your consultant to find out the specifics of each property’s WiFi availability and connectivity.
  • Please note that you may be visiting regions where you could face the risk of exposure to malaria. Malaria is prevalent in many places throughout Africa. It is important to schedule an appointment at a travel clinic well in advance of your trip so that you and your doctor can discuss malaria prevention and treatment options.
  • Please visit your local travel clinic to see what medications/vaccinations will be required for each area you are visiting. You can also view what is required for entry into each country at https://www.cdc.gov/. Travel Beyond cannot offer/dispense medical advice. Please visit your local travel clinic or doctor.

 

Confirm that your passport contains the appropriate number of blank visa pages. The total number of blank pages required for your trip is six (6). Amendment and endorsement pages at the back of your passport do not count toward this blank page requirement. Requirements may vary for non-US passport holders; please contact your local government office for entry requirements.

  • SOUTH AFRICA: Two (2) consecutive blank visa pages (either front/back or facing). Free visa issued upon arrival.
  • BOTSWANA: Two (2) consecutive blank visa pages (pages must be facing). Free visa issued upon arrival, however, a US$30 per person tourism development levy will soon be required to be paid upon arrival. The levy is not currently in effect.
  • ZAMBIA: Two (2) blank visa pages. Re-entry will require an additional blank visa page. Visa may be purchased upon arrival for US$50 per person single entry or US$80 per person double entry. US passport holders may also request a Kaza Univisa upon arrival for US $50 per person, which allows for travel between and within Zimbabwe and Zambia for 30 days and will cover one day trip to Botswana. Please note that the Kaza Univisa may not be available upon arrival if there is a shortage of stickers, in which case a standard tourist visa must be purchased.

All passport and visa requirements are subject to change without notice. All visas purchased prior to departure are subject to additional fees from the relevant consulate(s) and/or visa processing company.

 

Traveling with Minors:

If you are traveling to South Africa and Botswana with minor children (under age 18), please be sure you have all documentation, in addition to their passports, legally required for their entry into the country. South Africa and Botswana are strictly enforcing an immigration law, effective as of June 1, 2015. Under the law, all minors (children under age 18) are required to produce, in addition to their passport, an unabridged birth certificate (showing the particulars of both parents) when entering and exiting South Africa and Botswana. If not traveling with all parents/legal guardians, minors must also carry notarized Affidavits of Consent to Travel, signed by any and all parents/legal guardians not accompanying their child during travel. Without these documents, you will be denied entry into South Africa and Botswana. Please speak with your travel consultant about your specific requirements and visit www.dha.gov.za for detailed instructionsTravel Beyond cannot be held responsible should any of the information provided on this government website prove to be incorrect or if there is any deviation from the immigration requirements detailed therein.

 

Light Aircraft Information:

  • Seats on light aircraft flights are subject to availability and will only be secured after your payment has been received and your reservation is confirmed with the local airline(s).
  • Passengers weighing more than 220lbs must please advise Travel Beyond in advance. An extra seat MAY need to be costed into your travel package for safety purposes depending on the light aircraft carrier on your itinerary.
  • Your light aircraft flights may make stops to pick up and drop off passengers at other airstrips en route.
  • All luggage MUST be packed in soft sided bags with NO hard frames.
  • The luggage allowance is one (1) checked bag and one (1) carry-on bag totaling 44lbs/20kg per person. The maximum dimensions allowed for the soft bags are: 10 inches (25 cm) x 12­­ inches (30 cm) x 24 inches (62 cm).
  • Overweight or excess luggage will be allowed only if space permits and at additional cost to the traveler.


TRAVEL PROTECTION

Once your trip is confirmed, we will send you a travel protection plan quote. The provider we work with is Travelex Insurance Services, Inc. Travel Beyond strongly suggests each client obtain a comprehensive travel protection plan prior to traveling abroad.  At minimum, Travel Beyond requires each traveler to purchase an emergency medical evacuation plan as a condition of booking.

 

INTERNAL FLIGHTS

Internal commercial flights are required to complete this itinerary, as follows:

  • Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB) to Maun, Botswana (MUB)
  • Livingstone, Zambia (LVI) to Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB)

These flights are  included and will be booked by Travel Beyond.

Travel Beyond offers assistance with all aspects of travel, including international and internal commercial flights. Please note that these fares are not included in the costs of your proposal. Our in-house air specialist has over 15 years of experience in seamlessly integrating airfare with tour arrangements and can help find just the right balance of schedule and cost for your trip.

 

Inclusions:

  • Every land service on the itinerary including light aircraft flights and internal commercial flights but excluding international commercial flights.
  • Meet & Assist service on arrival.
  • Accommodation on a shared basis.

  • Services of the lodge guides and staff.
  • Relevant park fees.
  • The current tourism levies and all relevant value added tax or government sales tax.

  • Tips & gratuities. Tips are approximately $30 per person, per day.

  • Transatlantic flights and related ticket or airport taxes.

  • Any new government taxes, levies, fuel or industry increases which are beyond our control.

  • Botswana tourism development levy: US$30 per person to be paid on arrival only. Implementation date TBD.
  • Departure taxes: Travelers flying out of Zambia are required to pay a departure and security tax of ZMW237.00 per person (approximately US $45) for international departures. Taxes may be paid in USD cash or with a Visa credit card.  Taxes are to be paid directly at the airport. All government fees are subject to change without notice.
