One of the Okavango Delta’s most stunning and game-rich properties, Chief’s Camp, is in the midst of major renovations. The camp is slated to be finished in June 2016, but here’s a sneak peek of the property’s most anticipated updates.
Part of the Sanctuary Retreats portfolio, Chief’s Camp resides on Chief’s Island in the Mombo Concession. The size of all twelve pavilions will almost triple from about 440 square feet to an astounding 1500 square feet, making them some of the largest in the area. Each pavilion will be furnished with handmade furniture and include tranquil outdoor seating, a terrace plunge pool and a private dining area, from where lucky guests might view elephants, giraffes, buffalo and other wildlife.
Each interior will be furnished with handmade furniture, and a bathroom which offers a spacious outdoor shower, large bath tub, floor-to-ceiling windows and folding glass doors with an overlooking the surrounding waters of the Okavango Delta. In addition, features like a Nespresso machine and air conditioning above the bed add to the comfort of each pavilion.
Chief’s Camps’s main and public areas are also being extensively refurbished in a “safari chic” style. Plans include a newly designed bar and library area, the extension of the dining room and the addition of a pizza deck with pizza oven. An orientation room, gym and kids’ play room round out the camp’s new features. A new solar energy plant will provide 70% of the camp’s energy requirements.
