An African New Year’s Eve

Over the holidays, my colleague and I, along with some friends, hopped on a plane for Africa!

After spending time on Safari, we headed to Zanzibar (an island off the coast of Tanzania) to refresh, relax and celebrate the new year! We stayed at a beautiful lodge and our villa had direct access to the beach, which made me feel like I was walking into an exquisite painting every time I approached.

The white sand beach and turquois water captivate you completely – making it the perfect place to ring in the new year!

Our evening started with a lovely seven-course wine and dinner paring, which highlighted the local seafood in a beautiful presentation. We marveled at the meal while taking in the crashing waves and live entertainment from Anima!, an alternative indie-electronic duo from California and South Africa. The food and music continued up until midnight, when all guests, staff and locals celebrated with a bonfire on the beach.

We could see fireworks all the way down the shoreline from various communities, making the moment extra special. It was a night to remember!

As Billy Joel would say, “I’ve got a tab at Zanzibar.”
