Days 6 & 7

Khwai Private Reserve (Okavango Delta)

Enjoy two days exploring the Okavango Delta.

With so many activity options available, you might choose to partake in morning and afternoon game drives. These outings are a great way to view the Delta’s varied terrain and to spot some of the region’s incredible wildlife. Here, you have the chance to see it all, from the big cats, like cheetah and leopard, to the more elusive creatures, such as wild dog. Walking safaris are also an option, and a great way to notice the smaller, more subtle aspects of the Afrian bush.

Spending time on the water, weather depending, is also a must, as it exposes you to an entirely different side of the reserve. Boat cruises introduce you to animals like hippos and hundreds of different bird species. Mokoro rides give you the opportunity to gracefully move through the narrower waterways. Powered using a wooden pole, you hear nothing but the uninterrupted sounds of the Delta.

You might also consider relaxing in camp. Boasting a large swimming pool in the main area, a private plunge pool in your room and a treehouse library, there are plenty of spaces to simply pause and enjoy the experience of being on safari.

All meals will be served at camp.

Day 9 & 10

Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

Enjoy two days exploring the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, where the activities are endless.

Set off on a shared game drive to find the large herds of zebra and wildebeest who migrate through (usually December – April) or the rare brown hyena. Join the local bushmen for a walk, learning about their traditions and way of life.

For those looking for a bit more adventure, you can explore on horseback or take a doors-off helicopter flight, both of which provide an entirely new perspective of this ecosystem. If visiting in the dry season, you can even hop on a quad bike and drive out into the pans to appreciate their beauty and a moment of silence. (Additional costs may apply for these activities.)

The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans also offer visitors the opportunity to interact with a family of habituated meerkats. Meeting up with a local meerkat specialist, you follow the group as they forage for food. In time, and as the animals grow comfortable with your presence, you might have a curious meerkat climb onto your leg. Sometimes, they’ll even hop onto your shoulder or head. It is an unforgettable experience.
